We're Human about Multi-Trip Insurance
Our customers know we'll keep our promise to protect them, whether they're at home or abroad. An Post Insurance is a 100% Irish-owned company, so we understand what matters most to you.
How We Help
We know that everybody wants to get great value travel insurance, so we offer competitive prices if you have private health insurance to help manage the cost of cover (1).
Whether you prefer to holiday in Ireland, or go on an adventure abroad, get the peace of mind of good protection. If things go wrong while you're abroad you can rest easy knowing you will get the assistance, cover and care you need.
Along with great cover with a range of benefits to give you extra comfort, you can also purchase optional upgrades like excess car hire cover (2) to help you tailor your plan to suit your type of travel.
We're powered by people just like you, living in communities all over Ireland. While you're abroad, the Medical Emergency Assistance line is available 24 hours a day so you can get the help you need, when you need it.
1) If you have Private Health Insurance (PHI) such as VHI, Irish Life Health or Laya Healthcare, you may already be covered for an element of overseas medical treatment. We will top up the medical expenses cover as outlined in the policy document.
2) These optional extras are subject to an additional charge; it is not necessary to purchase these upgrades in order to purchase the policy.
Features & Benefits
If you like to take more than one holiday a year, the Annual Multi-Trip Insurance Policy is a smart choice. It offers peace of mind and protection for you and your family at home and abroad for up 90 travel days each year (to a maximum 30 days per trip) (3). This means you don't have to arrange a new policy every time you go abroad, so you'll have more time for researching the best beaches!
3) An Annual Multi Trip Policy offers cover for up to 90 days travel in the year, but no holiday can be longer than 30 days at a time. With an Annual Multi-Trip Policy, you can also be covered for holidays in Ireland provided that you spend at least two nights in accommodation you booked before your departure.
We offer cover for personal belongings of up to €1,500 (Single Item limit & Valuables limit is €250) and personal money of up to €500 (subject to €90 excess).
Sometimes cancelling or cutting short your trip is unavoidable. Our travel insurance will help you recoup these costs, up to €3,000. You can also get cover of up to €200 for delayed baggage.
Make sure you get the care you need if you fall sick or get injured. Our policies provide medical and emergency assistance while abroad, with cover for medical expenses of up to €5 million (4).
Do you like to drive while you're on holiday? Leave your worries behind by purchasing our European Car Hire Excess Cover (2), which means you can get on with exploring, while we take care of the excess.
4) Medical expenses are subject to €90 excess. Must be for necessary hospital, surgical or other diagnostic treatment, given or prescribed by a Doctor, and include charges for staying in a hospital or nursing home.

If your
flight is cancelled for any reason, and regardless of when you are notified,
your airline must offer you the choice between:
1)
Re-routing as soon as possible, subject to availability, free of charge.
2)
Re-routing at a later date.
3) A full refund.
If you
believe compensation is due, then the first step is to formally contact the
airline or travel provider. If you're not satisfied with its response, then you
can escalate by contacting the National Enforcement Body - which, in most cases
for Irish passengers, is the Commission for Aviation Regulation (01
661-1700; www.flightrights.ie).
Before you buy a policy and have a medical condition, we ask you to confirm that you are NOT
- Receiving or on a waiting list for treatment in a hospital or nursing home;
- Waiting for investigation or referral, or the results of any investigation, medical treatment or surgical procedure, for any condition, whether diagnosed or un-diagnosed;
- Choosing not to take prescribed medication, or the correct dose of prescribed medicine;
- Travelling against the advice of a medically qualified doctor;
- Travelling to obtain medical, dental or cosmetic treatment;
- Travelling with a terminal condition;
If you can confirm these and the other statements we ask you to confirm, you can buy our cover online.
Yes. To protect your own interests you should purchase travel insurance cover at the same time you purchase your travel package. You can buy it at a later date but it will not cover events which have already occurred.
If you are buying a single trip policy, your cancellation cover begins instantly. If you are buying an annual policy, you can choose when your cover begins (up to 180 days in the future). If you have already booked a holiday, and have no other travel insurance arrangements in place, you should ensure your policy starts immediately, so you are covered for cancellation.
Yes, provided you have bought an annual policy. You must spend at least two nights in accommodation you booked before your departure. So a weekend break involving two nights in a hotel would be covered, but a day out and overnight stop wouldn't. If you have bought a single trip policy you will not be covered for holidays in the Republic of Ireland. Whichever policy you buy, some benefits are not payable for holidays in the Republic of Ireland. See the Policy Wording for full details.
